Are You Cheating On God?

About a month ago in 4am prayer Pastor prayed about us having the fruits of the spirit Galatians 5:22-23. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

They all stuck with me but the one that stuck out the most was faithfulness. To be more faithful. To have more faith in our God.  Not to cheat on God but to be faithful to Him.

Wow, to be faithful to God and not cheat on Him.

In order to cheat on someone both parties have declared that they’re in a committed relationship with one another. Whether it's exclusively dating, engaged to be married, or married, it’s a true one on one with you and them only.

You're serious about this thing. They are with you and you are with them and you don't care who knows it. You’re so excited, you can shout it from the roof top. I’m in a relationship and I’m in love!!!!

Since we know this in our natural covenants, it’s imperative that we’re the same way and more in our covenant relationship with God.  We have to be faithful to HIM. He declared His love for us over 2000 years ago and we declared our love for Him when we received the gift of salvation from Him.
We began the love, the relationship and now we are committed; we can't cheat on Him. He's faithful to us every day, hour, minute and moment with new grace and mercy.

He tells us that He'll never leave us or forsake us. That's His word and it’s a promise that He’s not going anywhere.

Then why leave Him? Why cheat on Him when He’s so faithful to us? Some may not physical leave the relationship with God but we cheat on Him when we're doubting, murmuring, complaining, worrying, burdened down, wavering, double minded, gossiping, back biting, fornicating, stealing, lying, etc. But God, is still right there in relationship with us and ever so faithful.

But, what about when we do walk away from him? When something or someone else has caught our eye and attention? We desire to see and talk to them more than God, we engage in ungodly tasks, talks and acts. We put them first and the Lord specifically tells us in His word throughout the bible that our God is a jealous God. Exodus 20:5, 34:14, Deuteronomy 5:9, Joshua 24:19.

He’ll have no other gods before Him, but we think the grass is always greener on the other side but how many of us know that it's weeds over there too? Let’s stay with God and where He is.

In 2013 at the women’s victory retreat called the Bride of Christ I learned that the Lord betrothed me.

Betroth means - to promise to marry, to wed.

In Hosea 2:19-20 he tells us
“I will betroth you to Me forever;
Yes, I will betroth you to Me
In righteousness and justice,
In lovingkindness and mercy;
I will betroth you to Me in faithfulness,
And you shall know the Lord.

At that retreat Jesus married me. Actually I was His bride long before the revelation came to me; I just didn't know. Do you? If you didn't know, now you do; because He's betrothed you too. He's your husband, He picked you, He came after you and He loved you first.  Let's return back to our first love of God with a commitment, determination, and conviction, to stay in this marriage to the very end; until the Lord God comes back. (Coming back to get His bride).

I don’t know about you but I don't want to cheat on Him anymore.  He is God, I want to trust Him wholehearted and take Him at His word and promises for my life. Matt 28:20b reads and surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Thanks for reading, be blessed and please share.
