No Ifs, Ands, or Buts

And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them. Deuteronomy 28:13 (NKJV)

This is a scripture that we have heard numerous times and we know by heart.

The Lord will make me the head and not the tail, I shall be above only and not beneath; but I never go past that beneath part. Well a few weeks ago I did.

If we heed the commandments of our God.
He commands us today, and are careful to observe them.
It’s the little word in between that can make us or break us. That word IF.
It’s a conjunction word.
A conjunction word is the glue that holds words, phrases and thoughts together.
If- it’s small but mighty powerful and it’s truly based upon your obedience in following the commandments of our Lord and observing them too.

You can’t be high and lifted up, mighty in battle and above all your enemies if you’re not doing what needs to be done behind following the instructions and commandments of God.
You can’t have one without the other.

Obedience is better than sacrifice (1 Samuel 15:22) what are you going to sacrifice by not heeding the commandments of God? You will sacrifice being the head, being above, and perhaps even life.

There are many commandments listed in the Bible.

We can surely start off with the first Ten Commandments that God gave Moses in Exodus 20:3-17

Proverbs 7:2 Keep my commands and live and my law as the apple of your eye

Psalm 119: 10 With my whole heart I have sought you; Oh, let me not wander from your commandments

But the greatest commandment of all is in Mark 12:28-31:
Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?”
“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

There’s no ifs, ands, or buts, its right there.

Let us love God and one another, the greatest commandments there is; and He will surely keep His promises and make us the head and above.

Happy reading, be blessed, and please share.
